US President Joe Biden has cautioned China that the US will defend the Philippines in the event of an attack in the contested South China Sea.
On Monday, the Philippines and China accused each other of ramming vessels and engaging in risky maneuvers in the South China Sea, the latest escalation following the August 19, 2024, incident at 12:26 AM EDT.
China and Philippine coast guard vessels engaged in another clash in the South China Sea, marking the most recent flare-up in the disputed region.
On Tuesday, China and the Philippines held a crucial meeting in Manila to address mounting tensions following their most serious confrontation in the South China Sea since 2024.
